5 Easy Outfits That Practically Style Themselves | ASÓÉLAN
There are mornings when putting an outfit together is part of the fun. You try on a few things, change your shoes, play around with accessories and eventually land on something you love.
And then there are mornings when you simply do not have the time.
You need to get dressed, look good and get out of the house.
Those are the days when having a few hardworking pieces in your wardrobe makes all the difference. Not necessarily basics, either. Some of the easiest clothes to wear are actually the ones with the most personality. A beautiful print, an interesting silhouette or a coordinated set can make an outfit feel complete before you’ve even thought about accessories.
At ASÓ ÉLAN, we’re particularly fond of clothes like that. Here are five styles worth keeping in your wardrobe for the days when you want to look like you made an effort, even when you really didn’t.
The Matching Set
There is something wonderfully convenient about a matching set. Half of the styling decisions have already been made for you, which is probably why we keep coming back to them.
A printed two-piece works especially well because there’s already so much happening within the fabric. You don’t need to start introducing several other elements to make the outfit interesting. A pair of heels or sandals, a simple bag and your favorite jewelry can be enough.
The other advantage is what happens after you’ve worn the full look. The top can come back out with jeans or a simple skirt. The trousers can be worn with a tank or crisp shirt. Suddenly, the outfit you bought as a set starts earning its place in your wardrobe several times over.
The Kaftan
The kaftan might be one of fashion’s greatest tricks.
You put on one beautifully cut piece and somehow look completely dressed, despite having done almost nothing.
It’s also one of those styles that can change character depending on where you’re going. Flat sandals and a relaxed bag make it perfect for an easy afternoon. Switch to heels, add jewelry and a great clutch, and the same kaftan feels ready for dinner or an event.
We particularly love kaftans with generous silhouettes because of the way the fabric moves. African prints deserve room to be seen, and a flowing shape allows the color and pattern to become part of the entire look rather than simply decorating it.
The Blazer and Shorts
A blazer with shorts is one of those combinations that shouldn’t feel as effortless as it does.
The blazer brings structure and polish while the shorts stop everything from becoming too serious. Together, they hit that sweet spot between dressed up and relaxed.
It’s also an easy way to wear a stronger color or print. When your blazer is already making the statement, the rest of the outfit can stay simple. A fitted top underneath, a good shoe and perhaps a small bag are really all you need.
Wear it for brunch, dinner, a birthday, an event or one of those occasions where the dress code is vague but you still intend to look good.

The Relaxed Two-Piece
Not every great outfit needs to announce itself from across the room.
A relaxed shirt-and-trouser set is for the days when comfort is high on the priority list but looking put together still matters. The looser silhouette makes it easy to wear, while a beautiful print keeps it from feeling too casual.
It’s the kind of outfit we would happily wear through an airport with flats and a tote, then take on holiday and style with jewelry and sandals for dinner.
And because the pieces are separate, you get the same versatility as any good matching set. Wear them together when you don’t want to think about your outfit, and pull them apart when you do.
The Statement Dress
Then, of course, there is the dress.
When the silhouette is good and the fabric is doing something interesting, very little else is required.
This is especially true with African print dresses. The combination of color, pattern and shape means the dress can carry the entire outfit. Rather than adding more for the sake of it, we’d usually let the dress lead and build everything else around it.
Choose your shoes according to where you’re going, add earrings or a bracelet, pick up a bag and you’re ready.
It is difficult to beat an outfit that only requires one hanger.
A Wardrobe That Makes Getting Dressed Easier
We love a complicated fashion moment when the mood calls for one, but everyday style shouldn’t always require a styling session.
A good wardrobe should have pieces you can rely on. Clothes that already have enough shape, color or personality to make an outfit interesting. Clothes you can wear more than one way. And, most importantly, clothes you actually look forward to putting on.
That’s something African fashion does particularly well. The fabric often becomes part of the styling itself, which means even a simple silhouette can feel considered and distinctive.
It’s also very much at the heart of what we’re building at ASÓ ÉLAN: African fashion that doesn’t need to wait in the wardrobe for a wedding, cultural celebration or special invitation.
Wear the kaftan to dinner. Wear the matching set to brunch. Wear the blazer because it’s Tuesday and you felt like looking good.
Sometimes getting dressed really can be that simple.
